Tom Allen

Tom Allen is a passionate music lover, storyteller, writer and broadcaster. He has been an engaging host for symphony orchestra and chamber music concerts across the country, from the Toronto Symphony, to the Tuckamore Festival in St. John's to the Edmonton Symphony. He is also an award-winning author who has published three books of non-fiction and written a series of shows that mix storytelling, chamber music and history to bring classical music and the stories behind it to life in an accessible format. He calls these shows “Chamber Musicals”. He, along with his beloved, the harpist Lori Gemmell with a varied cast of brilliant musicians, have toured these shows almost everywhere in Canada. They include The Missing Pages - the story of the Canadian who met Beethoven (... an absolutely fascinating story - Michael Enright, CBC Radio), Bohemians in Brooklyn (…entertaining, theatrical, musically brilliant at times and even a little risque. - Kelowna Daily Courier), A Poe Cabaret (“A very magical music evening." - Audience member in High River, Alta) and his latest show - JS Bach's Long Walk in the Snow.
