Andrew Paul MacDonald

In December of 2021, guitarist and composer Andrew Paul MacDonald was appointed Officer of the Order of Canada for contributing to the wealth of Canadian culture for the last forty years. Winner of the 1995 Juno Award for “Best Classical Composition” for his Violin Concerto, his compositions have been commissioned, performed and recorded by Canada’s most prominent artists. Andrew has performed across Canada with orchestras, chamber music ensembles and solo, using both a traditional and also an archtop guitar to create a unique and innovative sound that blends beautifully with classical instruments. He also performs with his jazz ensemble, the MacDonald-Breton-Sullivan Trio, delighting audiences with original compositions as well as new twists on the jazz standards, as well as with The Future Blues Band, a group dedicated to theperformance of traditional blues repertoire.
